PMAY( Urban) :Now 1.86 Lakh More Houses Sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

With an aim to help make affordable homes accessible to each and every deserving candidate, the central government has announced to provide beneficiaries with over 1.86 lakh more housing facilities. The new initiative will be made under the PMAY-U (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban). According to the statements made the central government has agreed upon constructing more number of homes for needy and poor people within the country under the scheme.

Central govt. has sanctioned these houses in the 30th meeting of Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee. The total number / tally of pucca houses under this Urban Housing scheme has reached around 39.25 lakh. According to the decision, govt. will build new houses in Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttarakhand and Orissa.

PMAY-Housing For All (PMAY-HFA) is flagship scheme of Modi govt. to provide affordable houses to economically weaker sections, LIG, MIG and HIG groups till 2022.

 

Set Budget

Accordingly the government has also agreed to invest an overall budget of Rs 11169 crore under the flagship of PMAY-U scheme. The central government has also announced to offer financial assistance of Rs 2797 crore for constructing homes under the scheme.

Affordable Houses under AHP Component of PMAY Urban

Central govt. has approved 77,842 houses under Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) component of PMAY (U) whose details are as follows:-

  1. Haryana – 36,056 houses
  2. Karnataka – 16,026 houses
  3. Tamil Nadu – 13,951 houses
  4. Gujarat – 6,246 houses
  5. Maharashtra – 5,035 houses
  6. Uttarakhand – 528 houses
 

Number of Houses under BLC Component of PMAY Urban

Central govt. has sanctioned 1.08 lakh new houses under Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) Component of PMAY (Urban). The distribution of houses is as follows:-

  • Tamil Nadu – 26,672 houses
  • Karnataka – 16,630 houses
  • Haryana – 13,663 houses
  • Bihar – 11,411 houses
  • Kerala – 9,461 houses
  • Gujarat – 8,768 houses
  • Maharashtra – 7,088 houses
  • Uttarakhand – 5,698 houses
  • Odisha – 5,133 houses
 

After the final approval of CSMC, the total number of houses under PMAY (U) will reach up to 37.83 lakh. Furthermore after subsuming projects of Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) Scheme, the total tally moves up to 39.25 lakh houses.
