Study in India – Common Admission Portal for international students launched by Central Govt.

The Central government launched a common admission portal called 'Study in India' for foreign students to promote Indian education to "200,000 international students by 2023". Under the initiative, a total of 160 higher education institutes have been identified to provide education to international students seeking to study in India.

 India is a much wanted destination to pursue higher education for many international students as it possess an unparalleled variety of academic courses. Under this initiative, the central govt. has identified 160 higher educational institutions and will offer 15000 seats to provide high level education to foreigner students. Access the portal at

The venture will include easing of visa requirements for international students. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Minister of State for Human Resource Development Satyapal Singh and diplomats from over 30 countries attended the launch.

This portal will realize the vision of providing Indian education to 2 lakh foreign students till the FY 2023. Ministry of Human Resource and Development has launched this portal. The “Study in India Portal” is a single window platform to cover all study related aspects in India for foreign students.

India has the third largest higher education network in the world. Students comes from different countries in very large numbers to satisfy their desire of learning more with non-discriminative approach and an assured educational, career and personality growth. This portal will facilitate the international students to study in India. Accordingly, around 55% of the seats in the selected 160 institutions comes along with fee waivers to free India education market for foreign students. This also includes the relaxation in the norms of visa for international students. Central Govt. has approved an expenditure of Rs. 150 crores for the ‘Study in India’ programme for two years 2018-19 and 2019-20.

India has more than 800 universities and 40,000 colleges with a wide range of courses that are recognized globally. India offers high quality education with reasonable fees structure which will be within the reach of every income-group.
