Atal Jan Aahar Yojana: To Provide Meal @Rs.10 for poor people in south Delhi

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) in national capital launched half a dozen ‘Atal Jan Aahaar Kendra’ centres, under which people can get lunch at Rs. 10 only. South Delhi Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat along with Chairman of the civic body’s Standing Committee Bhupender Gupta and Leader of Opposition Ramesh Matiala launched the scheme from Matiala Chowk under Najafgarh Zoneon, on the occasion of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 93rd birthday.

The SDMC issued a statement yesterday and stated that the ‘Aahaar Kendra’ centres will provide puri-sabzi, chapattis, rice, rajma, vegetables, chhole and halwa . The meal will be available on all seven days between 11 am to 2 pm.

“An important promise made in the election manifesto is being fulfilled on the Good Governance Day celebrated on the birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. The scheme is being implemented in a phased manner. It will be expanded to add more centres and distribution timings will be extended to include dinner as well,” South Delhi Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat said.

Apart from SDMC, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) also launched a pilot project called ‘Atal Rasoi Deen Dayal Aahaar Kendra’ in Shalimar Bagh area.

South Delhi Mayor, Kamaljeet Sehrawat along with the Civic Body chairman and opposition leader Ramesh Matiala launches this scheme under Najafgarh Zone from Matiala Chowk. And the Officials mentions that this is an important promise which now fulfilled as part the election manifesto. Therefore, the occasion of the former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee birth anniversary, the officials decided to start this scheme.  Hence, to implement this correctly, the government plans to do it in Phase wise. So in each phase, they are going to add more distribution booths along with centers.

And also the government is planning to extend this scheme for dinner also. Many of the officials participated in the food distribution launch.  The Leader of House Shikha Rai and New Delhi lawmaker Meenakshi Lekhi Participated in the Food distribution under the Atal Jan Aahar Yojana. This is done in the South Zone of the Delhi. Therefore furtherly, the government plans to expand this completely through the Delhi. This is might take some time, as the government is going add it in phase wise. But for now there 5 Booths of Civic Bodiesproviding food for all the poor people at Rs.10/-.

Citizens can buy lunch from the stalls of the civic bodies which includes the following dishes:-

Puri

Chapattis

Rice

Rajma

Vegetables

Chhole

Halwa

 

SDMC is going to provide these subsidized lunches to all sections of the society. Moreover, govt. will lay special emphasis on the quality of the meals given to the people.

Launch of Atal Jan Aahar Yojana

This scheme is launched while celebrating Good Governance Day on the occasion of birthday of PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

SDMC is going to implement this scheme in phase wise manner. Afterwards, govt. will expand this scheme to cover more citizens. For this, SDMC will open more number of centers in Delhi in addition to the extension of timings to cover the dinner as well. Furthermore, NDMC also launches a pilot project on the same lines of this scheme in Shalimar Bagh, Delhi.
