However, earlier this year, the court upheld the notification and allowed DoE to fix an upper limit for admission to entry level classes in private recognised unaided schools.

Also, the Delhi High Court had rejected Delhi government's proposed single criterion of neighborhood, according to which the private schools built on government land need to prioritize admissions of students living within 1km radius of the school, followed by students living in 3km radius.

In nursery admissions 2017, in the middle of admissions, a well-known Delhi school has denied admittance to parents having more than two kids. "It wants to motivate people to have fewer children," the school said.

Meanwhile, Salwan School in West Delhi's Rajendra Nagar has mentioned this condition in the registration forms issued by its two branches -- Salwan Montessori and GD Salwan. "Parents having more than two children, including whose admission is sought, need not apply," read the form.

Meanwhile, the list of essential criteria to qualify for Delhi nursery admission like distance from the school, alumni (parents as alumni), siblings (siblings attending the same school), girl child, and single parent among others will be uploaded by all schools by December 26 on the official website,
